March 31 2014 Update

Recent Updates:

St. Patricks Day: Thanks to everyone who took part in the St. Patricks Day parade in Wicklow town, we had a good turnout who represented the club very well and I think everyone enjoyed the goodies afterwards.

Wicklow Gaol Break: Congratulations to all our athletes who took part in the Gaol break, the course was challenging in places but people just got through it, once again a big thanks to all our members, families and friends who helped steward the race, this was a big fund raiser for the club.

Items to Note:

Membership Update: From the 9th of April, we will no longer be accepting new Junior members this year, we will maintain a waiting list for those interested and monitor the situation over the coming months. This is very much a double edged sword for us as it’s great to see the numbers and interest in the club; on the other hand we don’t like having to turn anyone away, but in the interests of safety we need to be pragmatic with what we can do both in terms of the space available to us and of course the number of coaches available. There are no plans to cap the senior membership.

Sunday Run: We’ve kicked off an informal Sunday run for the seniors on Sundays, the idea is the route will change around each week, some weeks local some weeks maybe a little further afield, more details available at training on Wednesday. Next Sunday the 6th we hope we have a number of Athletes take part in the Crannford Harriers AC 5 miler, it’s a nice distance and not that far down the road.  Crannford Harriers are like ourselves a new club.

Lost & Found: We have acquired a few pieces of clothing that have been left behind at training, please see Aideen on Wednesday or let us know if you are missing any items, otherwise we will recycle them.

Wednesday Training: Training will move from the Ashford GAA grounds to the National school grounds from the 9th of April.

Aughrim: Round 5 of the Juvenile league takes place in Aughrim on Friday the 4th @ 6:30, we are currently lying fourth overall in the league, hopefully we will have a good turn-out to help keep that spot!
